Tunisia coach Humberto Coelho has handed a first call-up to German-born Sofien Chahed for the key FIFA World Cup™ qualifier against Nigeria in Abuja on 6 September.
Tunisia will be seeking to avoid defeat away from home to keep up their two point lead at the top of the Group B standings and strengthen their chances of qualifying for next year's finals in South Africa.
Defender Chahed, who recently moved from Hertha Berlin to Hanover in the Bundesliga, is Berlin-born and speaks little Arabic but will have help with the adaptation process from his club mate Karim Haggui, who is again in the squad.
Haggui, who captained Tunisia in their last match, has been a vital link in a defence that has conceded just four goals in nine qualifiers played in the 2010 FIFA World Cup preliminaries.
Striker Issam Jomaa returns to the squad after missing the last match, a 0-0 draw at home against the Nigerians in June.
