Morocco's Hassan Moumen has been appointed interim coach of the national team in place of sacked Frenchman Roger Lemerre, the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) confirmed on Monday.

Moumen, currently manager of first division Fath Rabat, will be assisted by three coaches - Hussein Amouta (Fath Rabat coach), Abdel Ghani Naciri (former deputy manager of the national side) and Jamal Salami (Difaa El Jadida coach).

Moumen will have a three-month contract and oversee Morocco's three remaining Group A qualifying matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ and CAF African Cup of Nations.

Morocco are struggling to qualify for both South Africa 2010 and the African Cup of Nations , which Lemerre won in 2004 with Tunisia, in Angola also next year as they lie fourth behind Gabon, Togo and Cameroon.
