As qualification for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ slowly reaches its conclusion, FIFA confirmed the dates of the intercontinental play-offs of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ preliminary competition. The draw to determine the home and away match assignments for these games and the play-offs in the Asian zone took place today in Nassau, Bahamas, ahead of the 59th FIFA Congress and was conducted by FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke.

UEFA - the eight best second-placed teams from the European preliminary competition will contest play-off matches to determine the final four teams to join the group winners in South Africa. The matches have been scheduled for Saturday, 14 November and Wednesday, 18 November 2009. The draw to determine the home and away match assignments will be conducted at the Home of FIFA in Zurich on Monday, 19 October 2009.
