Cameroon coach Otto Pfister has named three uncapped players in his squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifier against Togo on 28 March, but has kept faith with the core of his side. Goalkeeper Joslain Mayebi, who plays for Israel club Hakoach Ramat Gan, Lille midfielder Aurelien Chedjou and French second division striker Paul Alo'o Efoulou are all new faces in a 23-man squad named by the veteran German coach.
He has also set Tottenham Hotspur defender Benoit Assou Ekotto for his competitive debut after winning a first cap in a friendly against Guinea in Paris last month. The French-born defender, whose father is from Cameroon, had been courted for several years by the Indomitable Lions but only threw his international future in with Cameroon at the start of the year.
Pfister has handed a recall to Belgian-based defender Eric Matoukou and Turkish-based Armand Deem. Cameroon play Togo on neutral turf in Accra, Ghana. The match is the opening salvo in Group A of the final phase of the African qualifiers for the 2010 finals in South Africa.
