Uncapped brothers Willy and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are among four news faces in Gabon's squad for their 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifier in Morocco on Saturday. Coach Alain Giresse has also handed a first call-up to France-born defender Herve Batomenila and midfielder Jean Stéphane Achy, who plays for Gabonese champions Mangasport.
The Aubameyang brothers are set to follow in the footsteps of their elder sibling Catilina, 25, and father Pierre, who have both played for the central African country. Catilina Aubameyang, of French Ligue 2 team Ajaccio, is among the casualties as Giresse trimmed his squad for the African Zone, Group A qualifier to 23 players.
Pierre Aubame captained Gabon in the 1980s, and Catilina also played and scored for the national team in Germany 2006 qualifying. However, the two younger brothers, both born in France and on the books of AC Milan, have turned down previous call-ups.
Pierre-Emerick, 19, is on loan at Dijon in Ligue 2, while Willy, 22, plays at Avellino in the Italian Serie B. Batomenila 24, has played at Dijon for the last two seasons and began his career at Racing Strasbourg.
