Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has pulled out of the France squad for their crunch 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifiers against the Faroe Islands and Austria.

The 26-year-old, who has injured his left knee, leaves a significant gap in Raymond Domenech's 24-man squad.

France face the Faroe Islands on 10 October at Guingamp before meeting Austria at Saint-Denis four days later. Les Bleus are second in Group 7, four points behind Serbia and four ahead of Austria.

France later on Monday called up Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis as Ribery's replacement. Gomis, 24, has won four caps to date, scoring twice.
