Rangers striker Kris Boyd may return to the international fold after Scotland manager George Burley said he was "open" to recalling the player.

Boyd, 25, insisted he would not play for Burley again after he was left on the bench against Norway in a FIFA World Cup™ qualifier in October.

But he has since turned in impressive form in netting 18 goals this term and Burley told The Scottish Sun that the door was not slammed shut.

"Kris is his own man and he made his decision. That's up to him.

"But, if he changes his mind, I am open. I am the manager of Scotland and my duty is to pick the best squad," Burley said.

"What happened two months ago means nothing, I just move on to the next squad.

"I watch to see who is scoring and will pick the best person. It's simple," Burley added.
