Slovenia coach Matjaz Kek has revealed his squad for their opening 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifiers. The team will began their campaign in Poland on 6 September, before hosting Slovakia four days later.
Czech Republic, Northern Ireland and San Marino also comprise Group 3 in the UEFA Zone preliminaries. Slovenia are positioned 77th on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking.
Udinese goalkeeper Samir Handanovic, midfielder Robert Koren of West Bromwich Albion and Cologne forward Milivoje Novakovic were all included in the squad. Slovenia have participated in one FIFA World Cup finals, falling at the first hurdle after defeats by Spain, South Africa and Paraguay.
