FIFA has decided against all games on the final matchday of African Zone, second phase qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ kicking off simultaneously due to climatic challenges.

However, matches that could influence which teams finish first or second in their respective pools - namely those in Groups 5, 6, 7 and 10 - will be played at the same time.

A FIFA statement read: "Last week, FIFA asked that all games of the last matchday of the current second stage of the African preliminary competition for the 2010 FIFA World Cup be kicked off at the same time in all groups. However, this proved difficult due to climatic challenges.

"Therefore, as approved by Issa Hayatou, Chairman of the Organising Committee for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, it was decided that matches would be played simultaneously only in those qualification groups where the first and/or second places in the standings have not yet been determined. This applies to African Zone qualification Groups 5, 6, 7, and 10."

The eight group winners and 12 best runners-up will progress to the final stage of African Zone qualifying for South Africa 2010.
