Croatia coach Slaven Bilic on Wednesday named a 22-man squad for FIFA World Cup™ qualifiers against Kazakhstan on 6 September and England four days later, both to be played in Zagreb.

Bilic stressed that the squad was weakened by the absence of Portsmouth midfielder Niko Kranjcar, who underwent surgery on a ruptured ankle ligament earlier Wednesday, after being hurt in a friendly against Slovenia last week.
