Former Madagascar captain Mamisoa Razafindrakoto has been tempted out of a brief retirement to strengthen the island nation's defence for an expected onslaught from Côte d'Ivoire in their 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifier on Saturday.

Razafindrakoto ended his career in July after helping Madagascar reach the semi-finals of the regional Cosafa Senior Challenge, and was then added to his country's coaching staff.

However, Madagascar, eager to avoid the six-goal defeat by Côte d'Ivoire they suffered last year, at the end of their CAF Africa Cup of Nations Ghana 2008 qualification campaign, have asked Razafindrakoto to wear their colours again for the Group 7 match in Abidjan.

The Ivorians only need a draw to win the pool and advance to the final phase of the African preliminaries for South Africa 2010. Madagascar have a mathematical chance to also progress.
