2014 FIFA World Cup™

Final details ironed out at National Teams Workshop

Though the players will not be arriving for a few months yet, the fact is that the 32 national teams who will be contesting the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ are already on Brazilian soil. They have congregated at the resort of Costao do Santinho in Florianopolis for the three-day National Teams Workshops, which concludes on Thursday.

Attended by delegation heads, coaches, doctors and other managerial and technical staff representing the 32 national associations who will be taking part at Brazil 2014, the workshop provides an opportunity for them to discuss the organisational and logistical aspects of the greatest footballing show on Earth.

“It is a very special occasion and the last major event that will be held in Brazil before the FIFA Congress in Sao Paulo on 10-11 June,” said FIFA Secretary General Jérôme Valcke, referring to the meeting that will take place on the eve of the Opening Match of Brazil 2014 between the tournament hosts and Croatia in Sao Paulo on 12 June.

The workshop in Florianopolis is being held just a few days after official confirmation of the 32 National Team Training Centres that will host the teams taking part in the World Cup.

“All the national associations have now chosen their training bases for the tournament and it is essential, therefore, that we now clarify all organisational issues so that the teams are 100-percent ready to put on a great show between 12 June and 13 July,” added Valcke.
