STICK WITH US
It's all over at the Arena Fonte Nova and a valiant effort by Costa Rica was not enough to see off the defiant Dutch. Louis van Gaal's decision to bring Tim Krul on for the penalty shootout paid off as the Netherlands progress to Wednesday's Sao Paulo semi-final against Argentina. We're not quite finished for the night though, as we'll have all the reaction and video highlights from the game to bring you in our daily tournament blog.

The penalty shoot-out is over.

FULL TIME: The Dutch have seen off Costa Rica with their first World Cup penalty shootout win, and Tim Krul is the hero in Salvador. After a tense 120 minutes, in which the Netherlands hit the woodwork twice, the Newcastle United man was brought on with seconds remaining. He saved two penalties in the shootout, the crucial one from Michael Umana, to send the Dutch through to a semi-final showdown with Argentina.
