FULL TIME: After a quite incredible finale to an entertaining game, the Belgians are through to the quarter-finals to face Argentina. De Bruyne and Lukaku scored after it ended goalless after 90 minutes, but the USA struck back through Green just after the interval of the extended period. A concerted spell of USA pressure saw Dempsey go close to levelling, but it's Marc Wilmots' side who advance. Another remarkable game at Brazil 2014!
The ball is swung wide to Yedlin who fires the ball across the penalty area. It bounces awkwardly for the Belgian defence before Fellaini hacks clear.
GREAT SAVE! A brilliantly-worked free kick by the USA sees Bradley pass inside to Wondlowski. He taps on to Dempsey who is denied by Courtois. USA are going for it in the Arena Fonte Nova!
The ball goes down the other end and Lukaku sprints past several USA challenges before hammering towards goal. Howard saves and Gonzalez turns behind.
CHANCE! The ball is lofted to the back post by Yedlin and nodded down towards the tall No13, who pokes towards goal. It flies wide. USA in the ascendancy here!
GOAL! JULIAN GREEN! The youngster has been on the pitch for a matter of moments! The ball is lofted into the Belgian area, Green watches the ball over his shoulder and volleys towards goal. Courtois gets a hand on it but can't keep it out. Incredible scenes in Salvador!
Do the USA have anything left? It would be remarkable if they could force this game to a penalty shootout.
The first period has ended and it's been a brilliant Belgian performance in the first half of extra time.
GOAL! BELGIUM! IT'S LUKAKU! The No9 has made a huge difference since coming on and he's surely won it for the Red Devils. He receives the ball inside the penalty area from De Bruyne and the Chelsea forward hits a powerful effort past Howard.
Lukaku is certainly troubling the USA defence, finding his way past Gonzalez to fire another drive at goal, but Howard is there to claim the ball.
The ball breaks to Jones on the edge of the Belgian penalty area and hits towards goal, but Vertonghen blocks. It bounces through towards Dempsey, but it hits him on the calf and he can't bring it under control.
Lukaku gets the ball onto his favoured left foot and powers a drive at goal, but Howard is equal to it to turn the ball past the post.
Belgium break again and have men over on their left. One of those is Vertonghen, who rather delays his shot, allowing Gonzalez to stop his effort.
GOAL! DE BRUYNE! Lukaku bursts down the Belgian right with his first major contribution and passes inside. It's cut out but De Bruyne takes the ball past several USA challenges and squeezes the shot inside Howard's right-hand post.

WHAT A CHANCE! Cameron lofts the ball into the Belgian penalty area and it's nodded on by Jones. Wondolowski is completely free but lifts the ball over the bar. It wouldn't have counted, as the assistant referee raises his flag.
END OF 90 MINUTES: It's the second game of the day to finish goalless after the regulation time, but it's been an incredibly entertaining match so far. Both sides have had chances to win the game, with Tim Howard excelling in the USA goal. It goes to an extra half an hour.
Kompany wins the ball inside his own penalty area and strides out of defence. He plays to Hazard who turns the ball out to De Bruyne. The Belgium skipper keeps going and the Belgian No7 tries to find him in the USA penalty area. His scuffed left-footed effort is brilliantly turned wide by Howard.
De Bruyne breaks through the USA mdifield and feeds Hazard. The Chelsea man turns onto his left foot and hits towards goal, but it ripples the side netting after going just wide of Howard's right-hand post.
The 19-year-old receives the ball on the turn from Hazard and hits a venomous drive towards goal, but Howard is there once again to tip over the bar.
From the resulting corner, it's headed wide by the veteran defender.
Kompany turns wonderfully after a Belgium corner is cleared, and he plays a delightful ball through to his central defensive partner. Van Buyten tries to get a shot away, but it's blocked superbly behind for another corner.
GREAT SAVE! Mirallas pushes past Bedoya on the Belgium right and cuts back to Fellaini. The Manchester United man touches back to Hazard, who hits a bouncing effort at goal, but Howard pulls off another superb stop!
Hazard tracks back to hunt down Yedlin and plays forward to Origi who turns wonderfully to create space between the USA midfield and defence. He plays Mirallas in and he hits a left-footed effort at goal, but the Everton forward is denied by the legs of his club teammate.

GREAT SAVE! Mirallas dances through the USA defenders and is challenged. The ball breaks to Origi, whose side-footed effort is kept out by the Everton keeper.
Dempsey cuts inside onto his left foot and hits an effort at goal, but the ball is collected easily by Courtois.
JUST WIDE! Alderweireld plays the ball inside to Witsel and the Zenit man hits a low drive towards goal, but it zips just past Howard's right-hand post.
It's a hopeful shot from distance by Witsel, and Bedoya throws himself in the way.
Kompany releases De Bruyne into space on the Belgium left. He cuts inside and finds Mirallas, who tries to get a shot away but is stopped by a determined USA defence.
The Everton man comes on in place of Mertens, who went close moments earlier.
Origi finds space in the USA penalty area and drifts past a couple of American challenges. He cuts back and Mertens latches onto it, but it's inches wide of Howard's right-hand post.
Beasley is found in space on the USA left and his deflected cross bounces awkwardly for the Belgian defence inside their own penalty area. Zusi drives towards goal but it's eventually cleared away after a nervous few moments for the Red Devils' defenders.
Vertonghen smashes an audacious volley from the left of the USA penalty area, but it flashes over the bar.
OFF THE BAR! Alderweireld cuts inside on the Belgian right and Origi heads a powerful effort towards goal. It clips the bar on its way over. The Belgians are applying a bit more pressure here.
CHANCE! Vertonghen breaks down the Belgium left and fizzes a ball across the USA six yard box. It misses De Bruyne, Besler swings and doesn't get contact which deceives Origi who is flying in at the far post. So close for the Red Devils!

The Manchester United man shrugs off a Bradley challenge and hits a hopeful effort at goal, but it swerves away and doesn't trouble Howard.
GREAT SAVE! Origi turns away from Bradley and spreads the play to De Bruyne. The No7 chips in towards Mertens, and the winger heads towards goal, but Howard hangs in the air to tip the ball over the bar.

HALF TIME: It's been an entertainingly open first half with both sides trading counter-attacks. Belgium went close very early on through Origi, and the USA have also had some decent openings. It's sure to be an intriguing second period, with the final quarter-final spot still very much up for grabs.
The former Chelsea man gets the ball out of his feet and hits towards goal, but Howard makes a comfortable save.
Bradley spreads the play superbly to the sprinting Yedlin who breaks free down the USA right. He cuts back and Zusi swings for the ball but mishits it completely and the chance passes the Stars and Stripes by.
De Bruyne sprints down the Belgian right and the ball is worked inside to Hazard. The Chelsea man steadies himself before striking towards goal, but it's stopped before it can trouble Howard.
The corner is floated in and Dempsey brings the ball down excellently in the box. He tees up Jones who hits a low drive at goal. It's just wide of Courtois' right-hand post.
Johnson goes down after stretching for a ball and immediately signals to be replaced. It's a big moment for the American No2, who only made his debut for the national side in February this year.
Hazard gets the ball out of his feet around 25 yards from goal and pings a low drive. It's easy pickings for Howard, who smothers the ball.
CLOSE! Vertonghen breaks free of the USA defence on the Belgian left and crosses in to the six yard box. Beasley is there and makes a dramatic clearance from in front of his own goal with Fellaini ready to pounce.

"It’s a great achievement to get out of this group and into the knockout rounds. We could have created a few more chances but overall I’m satisfied. It was one of the most difficult groups at the tournament. Ghana and Portugal are good teams and Germany are one of the favourites to win the title. We’re still learning and growing as a team. Now everything starts from scratch again because the knockout rounds are very different."

This pair clashed at the 1930 World Cup, which was the joint first ever World Cup match (together with France 4-1 Mexico), played on 13 July 1930. Since the 2014 encounter will be the last match in the Round of 16, Belgium against USA will be, for three days, the first and the latest fixture ever played at a World Cup.
EDEN HAZARD ON PENALTIES
"I hope it doesn't happen, because we'll all feel the pressure. But if we have to take them, I prefer to go last. In qualifying it's easier because you have more matches. Now we've arrived at the stage where if you lose, you're out. It's multiplied by ten. One mistake and that could be it."
I hope this isn't what #USA is planning for their match with #BEL later. Eagles are against FIFA rules. @nypost http://t.co/neBnQ3oCYk— brazuca (@brazuca) 01/07/2014 19:38
"We navigated ourselves through the so-called group of death. Not many people gave us credit to be able to do that before the tournament started. We’ve been playing some brilliant football. We’ve been able to open some teams up. We’re not world-beaters yet, but we’re standing toe-to-toe with some big teams."
DANIEL VAN BUYTEN
"I'm not surprised that the Americans finished second in their group when you look at their continued improvement and their performance against Germany, despite the result (a 1-0 loss)"
LAST TIME OUT
Belgium completed their 100 per cent record in Group H with a 1-0 win over Korea Republic, while USA were narrowly defeated by Germany.
