We knew that people would make us group favourites but we have to go out and prove it on the pitch. Our past record doesn't mean anything and we can't take any of our opponents for granted. Before the draw we said that Chile were the side we wanted to avoid but now we've got to go and face them. They're an awkward team with some very good players and they could do a lot of damage – they only finished a point behind Brazil, which tells you something. Honduras also had an excellent qualification campaign and they're a very technical side. As for Switzerland, we know them a little better but I don't think we should be either celebrating how the draw has turned out or getting worried. All we have to do is work and be absolutely ready for the first game.

There's no doubt that Spain are the group favourites. They're the best team in Europe and in the world, and we might as well admit that the other three of us will be fighting for second place. The Hondurans are very strong technically. They did very well in qualifying and they fully deserved to go through. Chile have developed into an extremely strong team defensively. That and their technical ability makes them really dangerous. We'll definitely have to watch out for them. We all have a chance of going through – it will just be a question of being ready and analysing every little detail so that there's less chance of us making mistakes when we get started.

We got Spain in 1982 and now we've got them again. It feels like they're following us. I think all the teams in the group have their own styles and methods. The team we need to beat are ourselves, though. If we prepare properly and get in the right frame of mind then we can definitely dream about reaching the next round. Chile are a very strong team in South America and Switzerland have also put in a lot of good work lately. That said, Honduras are always at their best against the toughest sides and I hope we can prove that once again. It's all going to depend on how the next five months go.

It's neither an easy group nor a difficult group. We're up against three teams who have all beaten us recently and we'll just have to wait and see if we can learn something from those games and do better. I think Spain are one of the best teams in the world, there's no doubt about that, while both the Hondurans and the Swiss have a chance to go through. We all have a chance. Could the draw have worked out better for us? Yes, but it could also have been worse. We shouldn't be complaining about how it went; we just need to accept it and work hard to get through to the next round. We have the players, the desire and the coaching staff to do it. We just have to wait for the ball to tell us how far we can go.
