A towering striker with a penchant for nodding the ball home and winning long balls hoofed up to the attackers, Casey offers USA boss Bob Bradley a powerful option in attack. Currently with Major League Soccer outfit Colorado Rapids, the 27-year-old forward spent most of his career to date in Germany.
He first signed with Borussia Dortmund in 2000 and spent loan spells with Hannover and Karlsruhe before moving on to Mainz in 2004. He returned to North America in 2007 and was drafted by Toronto FC before being traded to the Rapids. With 19 caps for the USA, the first in 2004, Casey was a member of the youth side that participated at the 2001 U-20 World Cup in Argentina and helped the senior side in their run to the final of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa. The big man also put in some impressive performances in the later stages of USA’s qualifying run to South Africa 2010.
