FIFA’s Contribution
FIFA has implemented a multistage data security system including the following security features:
Secure Infrastructure
The FIFA ticketing network infrastructure is isolated from the internet by firewalls.
Secure Communication
Transfer of user and payment data from the browser to the FIFA network is protected by 128bit SSL data encryption and a related trusted security certificate.
Access Control
The FIFA ticketing application can only be accessed by an internet user via a valid user account and upon user authentication by entering a password.
User Security Information
FIFA informs users about the application of security features (see Your Contribution).

Your Contribution
It is you who sets the level of protection on your computer! Here are some important hints which will help you to use the internet securely:
Keep your passwords secure
Passwords must consist of a minimum of 6 characters and no more than a maximum of 12 characters. Permitted characters include the letters from A to Z or a to z without accents, numbers from 0 to 9, underscores (_), hyphens (-), apostrophes (‘) and full stops (.). The password is case sensitive.
For security reasons, we recommend that your password includes at least one capital letter, a number and one of the four accepted symbols as listed above.
Protect your Computer
Consider the following recommendations to protect your computer:
- Use an updated and patched web browser version to avoid security holes
- Use an updated and patched operating system version to avoid security holes
- Use an updated version of anti-virus software with automatic virus pattern download to protect your computer from malicious software from the Internet
- Use an updated version of a personal firewall (client firewall) to protect your computer from unpermitted internet access or attacks
- Install and use only software from trusted (internet) sources to avoid attacks or password theft
Protect your Financial Data
Consider the following recommendations to protect your financial data:
- Do not respond to suspicious e-Mails as they may come from Internet fraud. Be aware that FIFA will never send you emails where you are requested to provide your password, bank account or credit card information. If you should receive such an email, please, contact FIFA at:
- Residents of South Africa: enquiries@2010fwctc.co.za
- International General Public: enquiries@2010fwctc.com
- Do avoid suspicious web sites as they may infiltrate your computer with computer viruses
- If you want to log on to the FIFA webpage for ticket order close you web browser, run it again and log on at http://www.fifa.com/worldcup
- When you logon to your FIFA member account check if the web address in the browser is as follows:
http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/organisation/ticketing/applyfor/index.html
- After starting the ticket application procedure check if the web address in the browser begins with https (indicates encrypted communication via SSL), i.e.
https://fwctickets.fifa.com/...
- Check the security certificate for its validity. The detailed validation procedure is described below. Open the certificate information window by double-clicking on the “padlock” position in the browser window (this may differ depending on browser type and version).

Check Security Certificate
A security certificate is a trust anchor in the internet world used to certify the trustworthiness of a server to which the internet browser of a user is connected. The issuer of the certificate confirms the correctness of the certificate owner and certificate for a defined period of time. Each certificate contains, besides other information, a unique digital thumb print by which it can be securely identified.
Consider the following procedure to check if the certificate is the valid security certificate for FIFA World Cup Ticketing by the following steps. In the certificate information window
- check in tab "General" if
I) Issued to = fwctickets.fifa.com
II) Issued by = Akamai Subordinate CA 3
III) Valid from: 05.01.2010 - 05.01.2011
