Rustenburg was officially founded in 1851 by Boer “Burghers” who had trekked into the area a decade earlier, and lived amongst the Sotho-Tswana tribes who were already living in the area. It is one of the oldest towns in the North West Province and sits as an axis point for areas of interest throughout the region.

Literally translated, Rustenburg means “A place of rest”. It was Paul Kruger’s hometown and was established long before both Johannesburg and Tshwane/Pretoria. In modern times, due to its rich history, Rustenburg has become a tourism hot spot, with attractions for all types of tourists. Rustenburg produces a quarter of the world’s platinum group metal.

The Rustenburg FIFA Fan Fest™ will be held at the Fields College, a short distance from the city centre. Situated within the playing fields of this local High School, Fields College will provide the Rustenburg Kloof as a picturesque background for the gathered crowds. With a capacity of more than 20,000 people, the venue will be able to cater for locals who aren’t lucky enough to get their hands on one of the elusive match tickets, and visiting fans alike.

Giant screens, entertainment, and multiple on-site activities will ensure the perfect atmosphere for this festival of fans.

So join us in 2010 at the FIFA Fan Fest™ Rustenburg.
