Fabrice Do Marcolino scored twice in Gabon's FIFA World Cup™ qualifier on Saturday as they put themselves right back on track for possible qualification with a 2-0 home win over Lesotho in Libreville.

The African qualifying zone Group 5 match had been held over from May 31, when it had to be postponed because of flight problems that prevented Lesotho from making the trip to the Gabon capital.

It was Gabon's second home win in the qualifiers but they have lost both of their two away games. Gabon are on six points, behind the joint group leaders Ghana and Libya, and next meet Lesotho away in Maseru in September before finishing with a home match against Libya in October.

The Panthers took the lead just before half-time on a strike from the 25-year-old striker from French Ligue 2 club Angers, who has been in consistent form throughout their four qualifying games in June.

Do Marcolino added the second in the 65th minute despite coach Alain Giresse being forced to field a weakened team. Gabon have had to do without top striker Daniel Cousin over the last month as well as the likes of Yannick Lary, Etienne Bito'o, Henri Antchouet and Eric Mouloungui on Saturday in Libreville.

For Lesotho it was their fourth defeat and they are now mathematically out of contention for a place in the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals, being hosted by their neighbours South Africa.
