Korea DPR's chances of reaching the next stage of qualifying for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ have received a boost with a 1-0 win over Group 3 tailenders Turkmenistan in Pyongyang. Choe Kum-Chol's goal in the 72nd minute put the North Koreans on eight points, three clear of Korea Republic and four above third-placed Jordan. The latter pair will meet in Amman later today.

Kim Jeong-Hoon will have been delighted to take a big step towards qualification for the Asian fourth round. Korea DPR have also maintained their excellent defensive record: they have now conceded just one goal in four matches.
