Argentina defender Nicolas Burdisso has told his team-mates winning is all that matters heading into their 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ opener against Nigeria in Johannesburg. Albiceleste will then face Greece and Korea Republic in their other Group B games.
"I give more value to starting the tournament with a win than to playing well," said Burdisso. "There is a lot of anxiety and to start with a win would mean a lot to us. We must win our first game and although it will be difficult, we have to know that a good result is all that matters."
With the likes of Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez and Diego Milito in the Argentina squad, there is no doubt Diego Maradona's side are among the favourites to lift the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. However, Burdisso has urged the fans and his team-mates to keep their feet on the ground.
"There is no question we are candidates to win the tournament," said the Inter Milan defender. "We have very strong players in the team but that doesn't mean anything. We must win our first game and then draw some conclusions."
