The Barcelona midfielder, absent from the 5-0 win over Malawi in Abidjan in March, was included on a list of 31 players called up by coach Vahid Halilhodzic for the Group E matches in Conakry on 7 June and Ouagadougou 13 days later.
There was also a return for Aruna Dindane, fresh from helping Lens to promotion into the French Ligue 1, and Spain-based forward Arouna Kone, who has made only fleeting appearances as a substitute in the last month after a long spell out with injury.
Kanga Akale, Kafoumba Coulibaly, Ibrahim Kone, Igor Lolo and Gervais Yao Kouassi were also back in the Elephants' expansive squad.
