Vicente del Bosque, Spain coach
We played very well in every sense and my lads gave it everything. There were some great performances out there. We’ve still got one more match to play and let’s see if we can stay comfortable on the ball. If we can keep doing that, it’ll make things easier, although the Netherlands will be tough opponents for sure.
Joachim Low, Germany coach
All credit to the Spanish. They've been the best team around in the last two or three years, and I think they'll win the tournament. They're just such good footballers, and that showed up our current limitations today. They stifled us in certain areas, and we were never able to break free. Their passing game is so good, you spend practically all your time just chasing the ball. We were unable to win possession in the key areas which would have allowed us to switch from defence to attack at speed. Overall, my young team has had a magnificent tournament, but it's not worked out the way we wanted it today. It's a shame, we're sad, and we're all disappointed, but at the end of the day, Spain were terrific.
Xavi Hernandez, Spain midfielder and Budweiser Man of the Match
We're delighted about the win, which we deserved. The team did a great job, we put our stamp on the game, we dominated Germany, especially in the second half. We felt good out there and controlled the ball. Added to that, we were lucky enough to get the goal from the corner for Puyol. Spain deserved the win and we showed our personality out there. Holland are a great team, they've got really strong players, especially from the midfield to the attack and they're on a great run of form. But we have to play our football – if we play like today, we have a great chance.
David Villa, Spain forward
We're very happy and this was the best we've played so far this tournament. The bigger the challenge, the better we get, although we deserved to score more. We couldn't be happier and I thought Pedro had a great game. He'd been in the background until the Paraguay game but there's 23 of us and no matter who comes on, the team keeps playing to the same standard. We haven't achieved anything like this before but this team deserve everything that comes our way. It's not easy to get this far but we're hungry for more and we couldn't be happier at reaching the Final. That's what we came here for and now we want to go out and win it.
Xabi Alonso, Spain midfielder
We're so happy at making the Final at last. I thought the whole team was great and Puyol just threw himself at the ball. You could feel the whole team behind him when he scored and we could have got another one too. We're going for the big prize now and I hope we'll have more reasons to be celebrating soon. If you reach the Final, you want go on and win it.
Philipp Lahm, Germany captain
You're always gutted when you lose a semi-final. We're very, very disappointed. We set our sights high, but it's not worked out for us. We didn't play well, especially in the first half, and we lacked the courage of our convictions going forward. Spain are an exceptional team, but you only get a shot at the World Cup semi-finals once every four years.
Marcell Jansen, Germany defender
That was a completely different game compared to Argentina. Spain's organisation and tactics are in a different league. When they attack, the whole team comes forward, and when they defend, they all work together to keep it tight. We knew we'd have to be patient, and we resisted the pressure for as long as possible, but Spain were the better team today. We might have tried taking a few more risks, but ultimately we've come up a little bit short.
Manuel Neuer, Germany keeper
We're very, very disappointed at the moment. But we know we've had a good tournament. We didn't show enough attacking intent today, and we failed to create enough chances. We didn't quite have the courage we needed today. We've scored before half-time in almost all our matches, which was always a boost to our confidence, but it was different today. Spain seized the initiative and created far more chances than we did.
