Croatian international defender Hrvoje Vejic is to leave Russian league side Tomsk and join Hajduk Split, the press reported on Tuesday. Vejic told the Sportske Novosti daily that he would return to Croatia on a three and a half year contract.
"I wanted to be in Croatia and I did not want to play abroad anymore. I would like to finish my career in Hajduk," the 31-year-old said. Vejic has already played with Hajduk from 2001 until 2005 when he left for Tomsk. Hajduk Split ended the first half of the national league season in second position, a point behind rivals Dynamo Zagreb.
