Harras al-Hodoud stunned African champions Al-Ahly 1-0 here on Wednesday after an Egyptian Cup second round tie in which the losers had defender Wael Gomaa sent off.

Ahmed Abdulghani scored after 72 minutes to secure a deserved victory and a place in the quarter-finals for the paramilitary club based in this Mediterranean city.

Al-Ahly won the CAF Champions League a record sixth time last December with a 4-2 aggregate triumph over Cotonsport Garoua of Cameroon and are perennial favourites to win the Egyptian championship and cup competitions.
