Boro's Hoyte out for a month

Middlesbrough's Justin Hoyte is set to be out of action for at least four weeks after undergoing an operation on his knee.

The 24-year-old full-back had surgery last week after Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate, himself a former England defender, advised Hoyte not to delay the operation.

Hoyt, a £3 million (4.5 million dollars) pre-season signing from Premier League rivals Arsenal, is not expected to be fit for first-team action until the middle of next month.

He could miss at least six matches, including the league fixture away to champions Manchester United on 29 December, the north-east derby clash with Sunderland and the FA Cup third round tie at home to non-league Barrow.
