Midfielder Ufuk Talay will return from a stint in Japan to play in North Queensland Fury's inaugural A-League campaign next year, the club has revealed.
The 32-year-old, who has been playing for Avispa Fukuoka in the Japanese second flight since leaving Sydney FC earlier this year, has signed a two-year contract with the Fury.
Talay, of Turkish descent, played 50 games for Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig, before returning to Australia in 2005 to join Sydney FC for their debut A-League season.
He played for Australia at U-20 level, and was included in the Socceroos' senior squad earlier this year. However, he failed to make the team that beat Qatar 3-0 in a 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifier in Melbourne.
Talay will join Jade North, Robbie Middleby, Jacob Timpano, Brendon Santalab and Jeremy Brockie in the Fury's squad for the 2009/10 season.
