Bramble returns to deny Newcastle

Former Newcastle United defender Titus Bramble returned to haunt the Magpies, scoring a late equaliser to snatch ten-man Wigan Athletic a 2-2 draw at St James's Park.

Bramble gave the visitors a deserved draw after they had initially taken the lead through Ryan Taylor, who had scored in Wigan's previous two victories over Newcastle.

However, goals from Michael Owen and Obafemi Martins put the hosts ahead, until Bramble's late effort.

The result will give more pleasure to Latics manager Steve Bruce than his Newcastle counterpart Joe Kinnear, given that the visitors had Emmerson Boyce dismissed in the second-half.
