New Australian A-League club North Queensland Fury FC said on Friday that it has signed Sydney FC trio Robbie Middleby, Jacob Timpano and Brendon Santalab for its inaugural season next year.
Head coach Ian Ferguson said defenders Middleby and Timpano and midfielder Santalab had all signed two-year contracts with the fledgling club. "Coming on top of our previously announced signing of Socceroos defender Jade North, we now have the foundations of a very competitive squad," Ferguson said. Middelby, a former Socceroo, is an A-League grand final winner with Sydney FC in 2005/06.
The additions of Fury and Gold Coast United will expand the A-League from eight to 10 teams next year.
