Celtic want Nakamura to stay

Scottish giants Celtic want to persuade Japanese midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura to stay at the club until the end of the season amid signs the 30-year-old may leave in the January transfer window.

Nakamura's contract expires next summer, and, although he has an option to stay for a further year, finds travelling for international duty at odds with his family life.

"Celtic would be more than happy for Shunsuke to stay here for as long as he wants and certainly we want him to remain here until the end of the season," said Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell as saying.

"But his agent has intimated Shunsuke would like to return to Japan at some point."
