Former Rangers great Ian Ferguson will be the inaugural head coach of new Australian A-League club North Queensland FC, his present club Central Coast said on Monday.
Ferguson, 41, helped the Central Coast Mariners reach two A-League grand finals in the opening three years of the A-League as deputy to Lawrie McKinna. The Mariners said Ferguson would begin work with his new club immediately.
Ferguson was elected to Rangers' hall of fame after playing 336 games for the Glasgow giants from 1988 to 2000, and made nine international appearances for Scotland. North Queensland and Gold Coast are the new clubs in an expanded ten-team A-League next year.
