Viera back in charge of Iraq

Brazilian coach Jorvan Viera, who led Iraq to AFC Asian Cup glory last year, has returned to the helm after agreeing terms on a new contract.

"He signed on Tuesday evening for a one-year contract," Abdel Halak Massud, the financial chief of the Iraqi Football Federation, said.

In 2007, Viera inked a two-month contract and proceeded to rekindle the war-blighted nation's feverish passion for football as Iraq downed regional powerhouses Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the continental final.
