West Bromwich Albion have signed AZ Alkmaar defender Ryan Donk on a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent move, the Premier League newcomers have announced.
The signing of the 25-year-old follows the arrivals of his Netherlands U-21 team-mate Gianni Zuiverloon and Swedish defender Jonas Olsson from Heerenveen and Nijmegen respectively.
Baggies manager Tony Mowbray said: "We've signed a young defender with a good pedigree whose talent has been nurtured for the last two years by Louis van Gaal.
"Ryan is a player I've been monitoring for a few years and, alongside Gianni, he was part of the Dutch Under-21 team which won the European Championships last year.
"Although Ryan is still only 22, he has a huge physical presence and I'm delighted to have added him to our defensive options."
