Former USA coach Bruce Arena is set to be handed the Los Angeles Galaxy reins, ESPN reported on Friday.
Arena on Thursday met with Galaxy team owner Tim Leiweke, who recently called him the best candidate for the job, ESPN said.
The report also stated that Arena will bring in former Chicago Fire coach Dave Sarachan to be his assistant.
It would be the third tenure in the MLS for Arena, who resigned as coach of New York Red Bulls in November, after they were eliminated in the first round of the play-offs for the second time in as many seasons.
Nothing is official but if the deal does going through Arena would replace Ruud Gullit, who resigned earlier in the week.
The Galaxy began this season brightly but have sturggled of late, going winless in their last eight matches.
