Rosicky to miss Czechs' England date

Arsenal playmaker Tomas Rosicky will not be fit to play for the Czech Republic in a friendly against England in London on 20 August, new national coach Petr Rada said on Monday.

Rosicky has been out of action since 26 January with a thigh injury, with Rada calling on Mlada Boleslav striker Michal Papadopulos for the first time in his 18-man squad.

"It will be a difficult match. A real baptism of fire. But what is important for us is the start of the qualifying campaign for the 2010 FIFA World Cup on September 10 against Northern Ireland," said Rada.

Reading midfielder Marek Matejovsky is uncertain after picking up an injury playing against Nottingham at the weekend.
