Spanish international striker David Villa is sticking with Valencia despite interest from other clubs, his agent Jose Luis Tamargo told the Spanish press on Friday.
"There is no doubt about it. I can assure you he's staying," said Tamargo. According to El Mundo, Valencia have agreed to make 26-year-old Villa the team's top paid player with a salary of 2.5 million euros (3.7m dollars) per season.
Villa, a star of the Spain's UEFA EURO 2008-winning team, has reportedly been targetted by Real Madrid, who have failed in their bid to lure Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.
Valencia, UEFA Champions League finalists in 2000 and 2001, finished just tenth in the Primera Liga last season and have only qualified for the UEFA Cup thanks to their Spanish Cup victory.
