French first division club Rennes have suspended striker Sylvain Wiltord for comments made against club coach Guy Lacombe in Thursday's sports daily l'Equipe.
The former French international has been sidelined until the issue is resolved, a Rennes spokesman confirmed during a press conference, adding that Wiltord's comments were "wrong and unacceptable".
"Lacombe talks too much", the former Arsenal and France star told l'Equipe. "It's no longer a footballing issue - it has become personal."
Wiltord told the newspaper that the feud between coach and player was sparked last week when Lacombe told Wiltord that he could not be sure of a place in the first-team.
Wiltord, 34, who has won 92 international caps, made just 25 appearances and scored six goals last season for Rennes, after returning to his former club from French champions Lyon.
