Nigeria defender Danny Shittu joined Premier League club Bolton for an undisclosed fee from Watford on Wednesday.
Shittu, 27, agreed a three-year contract with Gary Megson's team just days after a move to Rangers fell through.
The Scottish club had negotiated a fee of around two million pounds for Shittu but were unable to meet his wage demamds.
Instead Shittu has moved to the Reebok Stadium, becoming Megson's fourth signing since the end of last season following the arrivals of Johan Elmander, Riga Mustapha and Fabrice Muamba.
He will now travel to Greece to meet up with his new team-mates on their pre-season tour.
