Kashiwa beat Osaka 1-0 in J-League

Japan Olympic team striker Tadanari Lee scored the only goal to give Kashiwa Reysol a 1-0 win over Gamba Osaka in J-League football on Sunday. The goal came in the 75th minute when Lee fired home a pass from Brazilian forward Franca.

"I'm glad that I scored a goal, because I didn't perform very well," said Lee. "But although we moved up to third place, our goal is to win 55 points, so I'm not so excited with the win."

Kashiwa are now in third place with nine wins, five losses and two draws for 26 points, three points behind front-runners Urawa Red Diamonds and two behind defending champions Kashima Antlers.

On Saturday, Urawa defeated FC Tokyo 2-0 to take sole possession of first place in the standings, while Kashima downed Jubilo Iwata, 2-1. In other games on Sunday, Kawasaki Frontale defeated Yokohama Marinos 2-1, while Kyoto Purple Sanga and Oita Trinita battled to a 1-1 draw.
