Celtic Cup given go-ahead

Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland have agreed to take part in a Four Nations Tournament from 2011.

The Scottish FA confirmed the plan was given the green light during discussions with their Welsh, Northern Irish and Republic counterparts earlier this week.

England have opted not to take part in the friendly tournament, which cannot begin for the next two-and-a-half years due to fixtures already scheduled.

The 'Four Nations' matches would be played in February and May in future seasons, with the games in each campaign to be played in the same country and moved between the nations on a tournament-by-tournament basis.
