Bayern Munich goalkeeper and captain Oliver Kahn has made made the joint third highest amount of Bundesliga appearances after playing his 552nd league match in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Nuremberg.
Former Germany captain 'King Kahn', 38, will retire from the Bundesliga at the end of the season and is now level with ex-Schalke 04 defender Klaus Fichtel, who made 552 appearances between 1965 and 1988.
Former West Germany defender Manfred Kaltz, who made 581 between 1971 and 1991, as well as Karl-Heinz Koerbel, who made 602 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt between 1972 and 1991, occupy second and first places respectively.
Kahn will finish his career in May having played a maximum of 560 matches, he started his career at Karlsruhe in 1987 and then joined Bayern in 1994.
With his side seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, Kahn is set to win his eighth Bundesliga title if the Munich club stay top of the table when the season finishes in May.
