Former Croatian international Zvonimir Soldo was named on Tuesday as the new coach of Dynamo Zagreb, where he had started his career 20 years ago.
Financial details and duration of his contract have yet to be agreed, the club's sports director Zoran Mamic told journalists.
The 40-year-old former midfielder is replacing Branko Ivankovic, who quit on Monday after being insulted by a club official following defeat at the national indoor championship.
Soldo started his career at Dynamo Zagreb in 1988. After playing for two Croatian clubs he returned to Dynamo Zagreb in 1994 to leave for Germany's first division side Stuttgart in 1996, where he ended his carreer ten years later. Until now Soldo coached the Dynamo Zagreb youth side.
He played 61 matches for Croatia's national team, scored three goals and helped them finish third at the 1998 FIFA World Cup France™.
After 19 matches this season, Dynamo Zagreb are in top spot with 12 points, ahead of second-placed Rijeka.
