South Africa midfielder Steven Pienaar arrived in South Africa on Tuesday to end a club-versus-country row with Everton.

The English Premiership club wanted him to play in a League Cup semi-final at Chelsea later Tuesday, 48 hours after the deadline for the player to join a 2008 African Nations Cup training camp in Durban.

Everton relented after FIFA intervened in favour of South Africa, who tackle Angola, Tunisia and Senegal in the first round of the Nations Cup, which kicks off on 20 January in Ghana.

Pienaar will begin training with Bafana Bafana (the Boys) Wednesday while the other late arrival, Israel-based defender Tshepo Masilela, took part in both Tuesday sessions under Brazilian coach Carlos Alberto Parreira.

The national team will play friendlies against Mozambique Sunday and Botswana next Wednesday before flying to their base in the northern city of Tamale.
