Kyrgyzstan close in on final

Kyrgyzstan outclassed Bangladesh 3-0 on Friday to stay in contention for a place in the final of the Nehru Cup football tournament.

Star striker Lut Fullaev set up the emphatic win with the first two goals in the 29th and 54th minute before Ruslan Djamshidov increased the margin in the 57th at the Ambedkar stadium.

Kyrgyzstan must now defeat hosts India in their last round-robin match on Sunday to advance to next Wednesday's final against Syria.

India, who are level with Kyrgyzstan on six points from three matches, enjoy a better goal difference and will need only a draw to qualify.

Bangladesh, supervised by their Indian coach Syed Nayeemuddin, finished the tournament with just one point from four games, scoring one goal and conceding seven.

Syria meet Cambodia in their last game on Saturday.
