Prolific Brazilian forward Muriqui has moved to Qatar’s Al Sadd following four highly successful seasons at Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande.
The reigning AFC Foreign Player of the Year was a key figure as Marcello Lippi’s side marched to their maiden Asian Champions League crown, as well as their third Chinese league title in a row.
Both Al Sadd and Evergrande will be in action when the AFC Champions League resumes next month at the quarter-final stage.
Guangzhou are seeking to successfully defend their title starting with a meeting against Australian debutants Western Sydney Wanderers, while Al Sadd face experienced ACL campaigners Al Hilal with the first leg to be played in Riyadh on 19 August.
There have also been several other changes in the Evergrande ranks with the club most notably securing the services of Italy FIFA World Cup™-winning striker Alberto Gilardino.
