Morelia put one foot into group stage

Armando Zamorano came off the bench to fire Mexican side Morelia into a 2-1 lead in the first leg of their Copa Libertadores tie with Santa Fe on Wednesday putting them on the brink of the group phase.

Zamorano scored one and made the other after entering the action in the 16th minute of Eduardo de la Torre's debut as Morelia coach.

Morelia took the lead in the 26th minute, with Zamorano passing the ball to Hector Mancilla, who had no trouble beating keeper Camilo Vargas.

Zamorano doubled the lead in the 65th minute, after beating a defender and the keeper for a neat solo effort.

Omar Perez missed a penalty in the 76th minute but made no mistake nine minutes later as he beat Carlos Rodriguez-Rangel with a free-kick.

In the day's other game Gualberto Mojica scored the only goal as Nacional of Uruguay were surprisingly beaten 1-0 by Bolivian side Oriente Petrolero.
