Leon cruise to Apertura title

Leon won the Mexican Apertura Final with a second leg 3-1 win over Club America which secured a 5-1 aggregate victory on Sunday.

Two goals ahead from the first leg Leon went in front through Mauro Boselli after 13 minutes.

Club America levelled the game with an own goal from Juan Ignacio Gonzalez three minutes before half-time.

Leon were back in front after 51 minutes with a second goal from Gonzalez, this time at the right end.

Things got worse for Club America when Francisco Maza Rodriguez was sent off 10 minutes into the second period.

Edwin Hernandez completed the scoring for Leon after 72 minutes to secure a 3-1 win and a 5-1 aggregate victory to take the title.
