FIFA World Cup™-bound United States will feature top European-based talent, including Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard and Sunderland forward Jozy Altidore, in upcoming friendlies in Scotland and Austria, USA Soccer announced.

US coach Jurgen Klinsmann gathered a 23-man line-up Monday in Glasgow that also includes Seattle's Clint Dempsey, Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones, Roma midfielder Michael Bradley and Stoke City's Brek Shea and Geoff Cameron.

"We are excited about the group we have coming in and the big opportunity to finish the year on a high note," Klinsmann said.

"We want to use these games to prove a point and see that our players are continuing to improve as we build towards the World Cup. There are some injury issues that now give other players the chance to step up."

Star striker Landon Donovan as well as Clarence Goodson, Edgar Castillo and Brad Guzan are injured and unavailable for matches Friday at Glasgow against Scotland and 19 November against Austria in Vienna.

The Americans qualified for their seventh consecutive World Cup and won the six-team North American qualifying competition.

Costa Rica and Honduras also advanced from North America with Mexico and New Zealand playing to decide another spot next year in Brazil.
