Brazil defender Thiago Silva has signed a new one-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain which will keep him at the Parc des Princes until 2018.
The 28-year-old PSG captain moved to PSG from AC Milan in 2012 in a deal worth some €40m.
"We are very proud to extend Thiago's contract, he's an exceptional player both on and off the field," PSG's president Nasser Al-Khelaifi said in a statement.
"He symbolises the aim of PSG to construct one of the top performing teams in Europe."
Thursday's news puts a lid on speculation linking Thiago Silva with a move away from Paris, with Barcelona among those clubs reportedly interested in acquiring his services.
