Men in Black crowned Fijian kings again

Ba claimed their fourth successive league title last Thursday thanks to Rewa, who defeated their only remaining challengers, Suva, 3-1, thus leaving Ba six points clear of both Suva and Nadi with just a single match remaining.

It was the 19th championship for the Men in Black, meaning they won more than half of the league championships contested (37). The dominance of the record champions is also illustrated by the fact that they have won 12 of the last 15 titles.

Ba had already booked a spot in the revamped 2013 OFC Champions League, heading into the final round only for Nadi to claim a 3-1 win at the home of the champions and claim the second berth.

Ba comfortably had the best overall record in the group stage of last season’s continental competition, winning five of their six matches. However, despite scoring 16 goals in their six group matches, the suffered a heavy defeat against eventual champions Auckland City in the semi-final.
